After a four-year break, one of the UK’s premier indoor rowing events is back — and it’s bigger than ever. This September, the English Indoor Rowing Championships returns to Bolton Arena, and for the first time in its history, it will run alongside the legendary Rainhill Trials.
This exciting double-header promises an unmissable day of athleticism, energy, and elite competition. Whether you’re chasing a PB, climbing the podium, or soaking up the electric atmosphere, this is a championship not to be missed.

- 500m Sprint
- 2km Endurance
- Team Relay (3000m)
Inclusive Categories for All Levels:
- All age groups from J11 to 76+ for men and women

Event Cancellation: If the event is cancelled, all participants will receive a full refund (excluding third-party processing fees).
Substitute/Transfer Policy: Entries are non-transferable.
Qualifying Rules
- No pre-qualifying times required. Competitors enter based on category (Age, Gender).
- Adaptive Categories must meet British Rowing indoor para-rowing classification standards.
- Age categories are based on the competitor’s age as of 31 December 2025.
- Winners must provide valid photo identification before prizes are awarded.
About the Organisers
The Hollingworth Lake Rowing Club (HLRC), based in Littleborough, Greater Manchester, is a friendly and competitive club with a proud history dating back to 1872. Nestled on scenic Hollingworth Lake, HLRC offers rowing opportunities for all ages and abilities, from beginners to national competitors.
The club is passionate about promoting indoor and on-water rowing, with members regularly taking part in regional, national, and international competitions, including the EIRC. HLRC is committed to community, inclusion, and developing a lifelong love of the sport.
